Karva Chauth prayer session

Date - Thursday 9 October 2025

Time - 16:00-16:30

Location and event information - Mezzanine Level, Floor 2, ICC Wales

Join us for this Karva Chauth (pronounced Karva-Chought) prayer session taking place during the afternoon break on day one. About Karva Chauth: A vibrant and meaningful religious festival celebrated annually by Hindu women from northern India. From sunrise to moonrise, women fast and pray for their husbands long life and good health. The day is filled with joy, love, and devotion as women strengthen and celebrate different family relationships, pray and sing together, apply intricate henna designs and bond with each other. In a heartwarming modern twist, many men now fast alongside their partners, showing support and love. Karva Chauth beautifully blends tradition with togetherness, making it a radiant celebration of enduring love and unity.

Mindful woodland wander

Escape the pressures of our busy conference schedule and the demands of general practice.

Date - Friday 10 October

Time - 07:30-08:15 (meet at registration at 07:30)

Join us for a peaceful, mindful wander in the woods - a brief but essential chance to reset.  Leave it all behind you for a short while and join us to ground and centre yourself in a calming, natural environment. We’ll use this short time to simply be, breathing in the fresh air, connecting with nature and each other.  This is an opportunity to recharge your mind and spirit, so you can return to your work refreshed and re-energized.

Dr Tim Sanders is a cumbrian GP, hefted in the Eden Valley and is a Mountain Rescue Team Doctor and Course Leader for the University of Lancashire MSc in Mountain Medicine and MSc in Urgent Care.  He regularly uses the Cumbria falls as somewhere to escape to and just ‘be; for a while.

Please wear sensible footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather. The walk will be on gravel paths, so while we might encounter a little mud, there’s no need for walking boots or technical outdoor gear.
