Dr Shahid Merali
Quality Management and Training Standards Clinical Lead, RCGP
Shahid is the Quality Management and Training Standards Clinical Lead for the RCGP. In this role, he is a member of the RCGP Workplace Based Assessment Core Group, which designs and implements workplace-based assessments. Shahid is a GP Partner and GP Trainer in the West Midlands. He is also a Curriculum Editor for the RCGP. Prior to Aston Medical School receiving students, Shahid was recruited as the Lead for Primary Care Education, where he developed and implemented the Primary Care curriculum for the MBChB programme, recruited and quality-managed the Primary Care clinical placements, and also developed and implemented the curriculum for the whole of Year 3. Shahid continues to manage the Primary Care placement capacity and allocations at the medical school in his role as Clinical Senior Lecturer. He has previously acted as a PLAB Examiner (Part 2) and a PLAB Question Management Group Member (Part 1) with the GMC.
