Kate King is a serving Royal Navy GP and academic. She joined the Royal Navy as a Medical Cadet in 2000, and qualified as a GP in 2009. A generalist at heart, she has served in a wide variety of deployed and UK bases, including as lead for the largest Navy Medical Centre. She was appointed to the Academic Department of Military General Practice in 2022 and enjoys exalting the joy of research to Defence primary care clinicians. The generalism extends to her research interests which include mental health, women’s health, all things relating to military primary care, and alcohol use in the UK Armed Forces, all while hoping that no-one looks at her own gin cabinet!
