
Dr Samuel Merriel
GP and NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer , The Centre of Primary Care and Health Services Research
Samuel Merriel is a GP and NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in the Centre of Primary Care and Health Services Research. His main research interests are in the early detection and prevention of cancer in primary care and the evaluation and implementation of new diagnostic tests.
After obtaining his medical degree in Australia, he moved to the UK where he completed an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in General Practise in Bristol, working within the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in August 2018. He has also completed a Master of Science (Public Heath) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Samuel serves as an Associate editor and Editorial Board member for the British Journal of General Practise (BJGP) and as a Senior Board Member for BMC Cancer. Additionally, he holds the position of vice-chair of the Primary Care Academic Collaborative (PACT).
