
Polly Morland
Writer and documentary maker
Polly Morland is a writer and documentary maker. She is the author of several books, including The Society of Timid Souls: or How to be Brave, which won a Royal Society of Literature/ Jerwood Award, was longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award and was a Sunday Times Book of the Year. Her latest, critically acclaimed work, A Fortunate Woman: A Country Doctor’s Story, was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction and was a Book of the Year in the New Statesman and the Times, who commended it as a “masterly work… a poetic, utterly human portrait”. It was Waterstones Non-Fiction Book of the Month and an instant Sunday Times Top Ten paperback bestseller. Polly is a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund and supervises MA documentary students at the School of Journalism, Media & Culture, Cardiff University.
