
Professor Sir Pali Hungin
Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University
Professor Hungin has contributed internationally to primary care gastroenterology and disorders of gut–brain interaction. A former Dean of Medicine at Durham University and past President of the British Medical Association, he has played a pivotal role in shaping research, education, and clinical practice in digestive health.
Pali is a founding member of the UK and European Societies for Primary Care Gastroenterology. As Co-Chair of the Primary Care Committee of the ROME Foundation and co-editor of the ROME V primary care handbook, he has collaborated internationally across primary and secondary care. He is also the incoming President of the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME).
