Professor Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard

Chief Medical Officer for Health New Zealand (former RCGP Chair), Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora

Professor Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard has been the National Chief Medical Officer for Health New Zealand since November 2024 and also works as a sessional General Practitioner. 

Until late 2024 she lived in the UK and was an NHS GP partner, a Professor of GP Education and Non-Executive Director on the board of NHS England. She was Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (2020-2023) and Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners (2016-2019). She was a trustee at Macmillan Cancer, founding Chair of the National Academy for Social Prescribing and founding Chair of the Dames Commander Society. She has served on the NHSE Genomics Board and the National AI Security Taskforce Governance.

She is globally respected voice on the future of healthcare and shifting health paradigms. Her contributions to General Practice and healthcare more widely were recognised by award of DBE (Damehood - New Year Honours 2022).
