
Dr Nic Dickson

Dr Nic Dickson (she/her) is a social researcher, visual artist and educator based at the University of Stirling, where she works as a Community Embedded Researcher. Her work focuses on the use of visual and creative methods, including comics, as tools for research, learning and knowledge exchange in health and social contexts. Nic has extensive experience using arts-based approaches to explore sensitive and complex issues, including health inequalities, domestic abuse and substance use, with the aim of making research accessible and meaningful for practitioners, communities and learners. She completed a PhD in Education at the University of Glasgow and has a background spanning social research, health, medical education and the arts. Nic is the co-creator of many research-informed comic outputs, including Pathways of Hope, and regularly works with clinicians, educators and community groups to support reflection, dialogue and practice through visual storytelling.
