Mitrofanoff Support
Mitrofanoff Support is the UK charity dedicated to supporting people living with, or considering having, a continent urinary diversion (Mitrofanoff procedure). We provide trusted information, practical guidance and peer support to patients, families and healthcare professionals. The purpose of the Mitrofanoff procedure is to restore confidence and convenience to those experiencing a range of urological issues. It provides a catheterisable continent channel as an alternative to the native urethra and is a long-term solution which enables patients to maintain a normal quality of life. It may be an option for those with congenital malformations, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, bladder cancer, etc. Mitrofanoff Support offers information and reassurance to individuals and the people closest to them. Through our helpline, educational resources, community support days, journals and online community, we help people navigate life before and after surgery. As well as patients and their families, we also work with product suppliers, healthcare professionals and hospital trusts. By working closely with urology professionals, we aim to improve education and promote greater understanding, awareness and patient-centred care for everyone living with a Mitrofanoff.
