Mark Rickenbach has been a general practitioner and medical educator for thirty years in the Hampshire area near Southampton, England. His PhD looked at improving education for those in healthcare, leading to the GMC national training survey. Some sixty medical and non-medical publications now include contributions to anthologies and a book of poetry “Hospital Heroes: From illness to recovery.” The latter help the use of song and poetry within healthcare education. Mark previously worked as an appraiser, a mentor, an Associate Dean and a Visiting Professor of Healthcare at Winchester University. Having trained in East London, he worked in Portsmouth and then Australia gaining qualifications in both secondary and primary healthcare. In 2012 he was pitch side for hockey providing medical care as an Olympic games maker.
