Marie Curie

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people affected by terminal illness, providing expert care, support, and research to improve experiences at the end of life. In partnership with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), Marie Curie co-developed the Daffodil Standards—a free, evidence-based quality improvement programme designed to support general practices in delivering compassionate, consistent, and person-centred care for patients nearing the end of life.

The Daffodil Standards offer a practical framework for reflection, learning, and improvement, empowering GPs and practice teams to embed best practice across clinical, administrative, and community-facing aspects of care. Since launch, hundreds of practices across the UK have adopted the Standards, with growing impact on patient outcomes and team confidence.

To celebrate and showcase this commitment, Marie Curie and the RCGP have introduced the Daffodil Standards Awards, recognising practices that demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and improvement in end of life care. Our 2025 Winners will be announced at the RCGP Annual Conference, highlighting the vital role of primary care in end of life care.
