Learn about ME and Long Covid
Learn about ME is a partnership between specialist doctor Nina Muirhead, and charities MEAction UK, Action for ME, Long Covid Scotland and the ME Association. We promote accredited free training on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Long Covid, alongside resources that support staff within primary care to support patients safely and effectively. ME (sometimes referred to as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is a complex multisystem disease with many symptoms that may change over time and differ from patient to patient. Half of those diagnosed with Long Covid also experience the hallmark ME symptom of post exertional malaise. An estimated 1.35 million people in the UK have ME or ME-like symptoms; approximately 80% are women. Most people with ME cannot work or study full-time. One in four are severely ill and unable to leave their house or bed. Visit our stand to talk about ME and pick up resources on the 2021 NICE guideline on ME/CFS, covering identification and assessment before and after diagnosis, plus management, monitoring and review; a free CPD-accredited module for GPs on diagnosing and managing ME, based on patient case studies; and evidence-based information on how to support patients with ME, including those severely affected.
