Dr Smita Thakur is a GP Principal at The Albion Mount Medical Prac:ce with several years’ of experience in clinical care, leadership, and interna:onal outreach. She is a Founda:on and GP Trainer and a Training Programme Director within the Heart of Yorkshire GPVTS and has educa:onal leadership roles across Yorkshire and Humber. Her work focuses on differen:al aIainment, cultural competency/ humility, and suppor:ng Interna:onal Medical Graduates through mentoring, coaching, and targeted educa:onal programmes.

Alongside her educa:onal roles, she is an NHS England Medical Appraiser, RCGP-accredited Mentor, and Clinical Tutor for Imperial College, London. Her clinical interests include obesity, diabetes, metabolic health, and paediatrics, and she serves na:onally as an RCGP Clinical Adviser and College Representa:ve for Obesity and Weight Management. Interna:onally, she is Deputy Director of The Hridayam Founda:on, suppor:ng cardiovascular and diabetes care in India. She is commiIed to compassionate leadership, inclusive educa:on, and improving standards in general prac:ce.
