Dr Gavin Francis

Gavin Francis is a GP who works in the Ross of Mull. After a spell with the British Antarctic Survey he began his GP career in Orkney and has worked in remote and rural practice intermittently for over twenty years.  He’s a writer of eleven books that explore travel and the synergies between medicine and culture, which have been translated into twenty languages.  He argues that rural practice offers unique rewards and satisfactions, and is interested in innovative rotational models of GP care provision in remote and rural settings.
