Dr Deepa Shah

GP, Associate Medical Director for Primary Care, NHS Shetland, NHS Shetland

Deepa has spent 15 years working in General Practice, initially in London before moving to Shetland 6 years ago, where her husband’s family are from. She is a GP with NHS Shetland and also the Associate Medical Director for Primary Care there. Deepa has been inspired by Scotland’s approach to Realistic Medicine that put patients at the centre of decisions made about their healthcare, making optimal use of the precious resources we have, and prioritising sustainable and equitable healthcare. She is passionate about improving the health of our communities and transforming them to become healthy, connected and fulfilling places to live, supporting people to thrive and flourish.

Deepa is also a director of Bigton Collective (a social enterprise promoting arts, health and well-being in Shetland) and Chair of Bigton Community Enterprise which runs the local community owned shop.
