Dr Andy Ward

Dr Andy Ward is Director of Education and Training and an Associate Professor of Medical Education at Leicester Medical School, and an Honorary Senior Academic General Practitioner. He is based at the Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare, where he works to embed empathy at the core of medical education in order to improve patient outcomes and strengthen future healthcare systems. In his leadership role, Andy designs and delivers innovative, evidence‑based educational approaches that support the development and sustainability of empathic practice throughout medical training. His academic interests include healthcare communication, patient‑centred care, and inclusion health, and his work has influenced curriculum development nationally and internationally. He regularly presents his research at international conferences. Alongside his academic career, Andy continues to practise clinically as a GP at Inclusion Healthcare in Leicester, working with people experiencing homelessness, and supporting students to gain experience in inclusive healthcare settings.
