Dr Adrian Hayter

Dr Adrian Hayter joined NICE as the chief medical officer in July 2026. Adrian is a practicing GP at the Runnymede Medical Practice, celebrating his 30th year as a GP partner in 2027. He has held various leadership roles in commissioning over his career, including chairing the Windsor Ascot and Maidenhead CCG between 2013 and 2018. He was the first GP to be appointed as national clinical director for older people and person-centred care in 2019 by NHS England. 

He is a visiting professor of gerontology at Singapore University of Social Science and recently held the role of medical director for clinical policy at the RCGP where he has supported a network of GPs who influence the clinical policy agenda across the four nations.
