Childhood Tumour Trust
Childhood Tumour Trust (CTT) is a UK charity supporting children and young people up to the age of 30, and their families, affected by Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). NF1 is a complex genetic condition that can cause tumours to develop along nerves and may be associated with physical, developmental, learning, emotional and social challenges. General practice has an important role in recognising possible signs of NF1, supporting timely diagnosis and referral, coordinating ongoing care, and helping families navigate the wider impact of the condition. CTT works to improve awareness and understanding of NF1 among healthcare professionals, educators and the public, while ensuring that families feel informed, connected and less isolated. Our services include inclusive residential camps, family days out, workshops, online activities, youth programmes and secure peer-support communities. These opportunities enable young people to build confidence and friendships, while parents and carers can connect with others who understand their experiences. We also campaign for better support, promote earlier diagnosis and help fund research. We welcome opportunities to work with GPs and primary care teams to improve recognition, signposting and outcomes for families affected by NF1.
