Dr Akram Hussain

RCGP GP Registrar Co-chair

Akram completed his GP training in September 2025 in the Ayrshire/Arran deanery, West Scotland. He has served as the National RCGP Registrar Chair and Co-Chair over the past two years and currently holds the position of Educational Lead for the West Scotland Faculty. 

He has a strong background in leadership, having held roles such as Deputy Chair of the RCGP Scotland First5/GPR Committee, GP Trainee Representative for NHS Education for Scotland (NES), and GP Registrar Chair for the local West Scotland Faculty. 

Akram graduated in medicine from Hyderabad, India, and pursued a specialization in Emergency Medicine. He previously worked as an Emergency Medicine Registrar in Peterborough and continues to maintain a strong clinical interest in the field. In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, he has actively supported international medical graduates (IMGs) through the NES IMG Buddy Scheme and has played a key role in organizing GP Registrar Induction events across Scotland
