Dr Shehla Imtiaz-Umer
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Director & GP, General Practice Task Force (GPTF) Derbyshire
Dr Imtiaz-Umer is a GP Principal in Derby and EDI Director for General Practice Task Force (GPTF). She is recognised for her work in combating discrimination and undertook a comprehensive survey to gather insights into the prevalence of discrimination and its impact on the workforce. This has provided valuable evidence to support the implementation of effective measures for reducing discrimination against colleagues and patients. As the co-editor of the Wiley publication “ABC of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare,” she has contributed to advancing EDI knowledge. With her extensive experience in EDI in Derbyshire, Dr Imtiaz-Umer has played a vital role in helping to shape policies and advocate for positive cultural change in General Practice. Her dedication has earned her recognition as a leader and advocate for a fair and inclusive healthcare system. In 2022, she won an NHS England award for her commitment and contributions to EDI.
