Childhood Tumour Trust

Childhood Tumour Trust (CTT) is a UK charity dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families affected by Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). NF1 is a complex, lifelong genetic condition that can cause a wide range of medical, educational, and social challenges.

CTT provides direct support for families through camps, activity days, and online sessions that help children build confidence, reduce isolation, and connect with peers who share their experiences. We also run parent/carer networks, signpost to specialist services, and fund counselling. To aid professionals, CTT produces a suite of resources including:

  •  Information booklets for parents, children, schools, and GPs.
  •  Animated videos and stories (featuring our mascot, Patches the Giraffe) to explain NF1 to children.
  •  Practical tools such as NF1 review checklists, template letters for schools and GPs, and resources on breast cancer screening entitlement from age 40.

CTT also contributes to research partnerships, raising awareness through national campaigns, and advocating for improved care pathways. Our vision is that every child and young person with NF1 receives early diagnosis, appropriate monitoring, and the understanding and support they deserve.
