Student Volunteer Programme

We are looking for committed students to participate as volunteers at this year’s annual conference. It’s a great opportunity to attend sessions and meet practitioners across the three days of the conference, in return for helping out.

The volunteer programme is open to all undergraduate students and FY1 / FY2 doctors interested in a career as a GP.

Students are required to volunteer for a full day in exchange for a full day at conference ie volunteer for Thursday and come to the conference on Friday and vice-versa.

How you can help us

  • Delegate bag packing
  • Direct Delegates
  • Assist with registration
  • Scan Delegates into sessions & usher during the plenary
  • Assist with the Poster Programme
  • Act as an ambassador for the event with your student community
  • Capture activity at conference & post on social media

What should I expect?

The conference runs from Thursday 24 October to Saturday 26 October, with a setup day on Wednesday 23 October.

We are looking for volunteers to work in one of two teams working for the whole day on either Thursday 24 October or Friday 25 October. We’ll do our best to mix up your job roles so that you can access as much of the conference content as possible.

Each volunteer period lasts for one whole day, starting at 08:00 am until 17:00 on Thursday 24 October and 18:00 on Friday 25 October (refreshments and lunch will be provided, with lunch being approx 45 mins to allow for all volunteers to be at their post 15 mins prior to the programme starting). Your volunteer period starts with a briefing of your role along with updated information about the event.

We are also seeking a small number of volunteers to help out on the evening of Wednesday 23 October (from 17:00 – 19:00) to help put the final touches to set up the event and on Saturday 26 October (from 08:30-13:00).  The Wednesday and Saturday volunteering options are in addition to the full day of volunteering on either Thursday or Friday.

It’s not all work and no play. We hope you’ll have fun snapping shots around the conference and posting them on social media, spending time speaking to your future peers and with exhibitors.
