Dr Tessa Lewis
General Practitioner, Medical adviser, Chair NICE Managing Common Infections Advisory Committee Tessa is a GP and medical adviser, supporting the safe and effective use of medicines and NHS resources. She chairs the NICE Managing Common Infections Advisory Committee and works with colleagues to support the awareness, discussion, and implementation of national guidance. She has been involved in various NICE workstreams including Antimicrobial Stewardship, COVID-19 rapid guidelines and is a member of Quality Standards and Indicators Advisory Committees. Previously, as medical adviser to the All-Wales therapeutics and toxicology centre (2005-2016) she led and supported the development of therapeutic guidance, such as All Wales Advice on the Role of Oral Anticoagulants. Other areas of particular interest include multimorbidity and medication review. She developed the Wales UTI Quality Improvement tool for the 2019/21 GP contract and is working with PHE on resources for the RCGP/TARGET antibiotic toolkit.
