Dr Rakesh Modi
Rakesh Modi is a GP in Cambridgeshire working in regular general practice and extended access. He is also a Wellcome Trust PhD Fellow at the Primary Care Unit in the University of Cambridge, undertaking research on the SAFER trial, which aims to find out whether it is worthwhile screening for atrial fibrillation in people aged 70 and over. He is leading the mixed methods process evaluation and is generating recommendations for screening for AF. He is also leading complex reviews into the work that primary care does with regards to screening programmes, and how it can best deliver them. He supervises medical students, BA students, GPs and MPhil students at the University of Cambridge, and he lectures MPhil students on process evaluations and qualitative research. He is also the GP lead for research in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough CCG.
