Dr Garth Funston
Garth is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Practice. He has a particular interest in primary care cancer research and his work focusses on the early detection of cancer in symptomatic patients and on optimising diagnostic pathways. He recently completed a Cancer Research UK funded PhD at the University of Cambridge where he evaluated the accuracy of the ovarian cancer biomarker CA125 in primary care and developed diagnostic prediction models to improve its performance and clinical utility.
