Dave has previously been a member of one of his GP Practice’s Patient Participation Groups. He has also used his own and other patients experiences in a National Institute for Health Research funded project. He has brought a ‘patient perspective’ to continuing professional training programmes for GP’s, been a ‘patient’ and ‘lay’ member of several medical royal colleges and is currently similarly involved with the RCGP. He remains a simulated patient in several medical schools. For several years he served as a patient/resident advocate on Care Quality Commission inspections. Dave currently serves as a public governor of a hospital trust where he is seeking to use all his above experiences to help keep his local community and its patients at the very centre of Trust thinking and practice.
