Avril Tucker graduated from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2005 and completed her postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy in 2010. She specialised as a Primary Care Antimicrobial Pharmacist in 2015 and became a pharmacist Independent Prescriber in 2017. Avril was the project lead of the NHS award nominated Antimicrobial Resistance Pacesetter and now currently leads on SWAP (Supporting Wales with Antibiotics in Primary Care), UTI Friday (which has been included in the Welsh GP contract) and RxSOS (a project designed to support GP practices with repeat prescriptions). She sits on the NICE Managing Common Infections committee, the All Wales Antimicrobial Pharmacist Group and the All Wales Prescribing Advisory Group. She is also the Head of Medicines Management for Bridgend Locality.
