Society of Occupational Medicine

The Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) is the leading UK organisation for all healthcare professionals working in or with an interest in occupational health and medicine. We support and guide members throughout their career, from students, full membership to retirement. As a charity we exist only to serve our members, which include doctors, ergonomists, health technicians, hygienists, nurses, physiotherapists, and psychologists.

The SOM proactively works with policy makers across the UK and globally Our Patrons are Lord Blunkett, Norman Lamb, and Dame Carol Black. Members are welcome to join special interest groups such as in HAVS and travel medicine. work globally through our international regional group and the International Occupational Medicine Society Collaborative. Members receive hard copy of our journal Occupational Medicine 9 times a year; a monthly eNewsletter; job and event alerts; discounts for our CPD events and annual conference; and a listing on our “Find an OH Professional” directory.
