We are delighted to announce Sir Michael Marmot, a global expert on health inequalities, as a keynote speaker for the RCGP Annual Conference in 2019. Sir Michael has been invited to give the John Hunt Lecture, and is due to speak on Friday 25 October at the conference in Liverpool.
He is Professor of Epidemiology at University College London and Director of the Institute of Health Equity. He was Chair of the Commission on Social Determinants of Health, set up by the World Health Organization in 2005, which produced the seminal report: ‘Closing the Gap in a Generation’.
