RCGP Step Challenge

Join us for the RCGP Step challenge on Thursday 4 October from 08.00 – 16.00. The person to accumulate the most steps will win a sports voucher worth £50 kindly supported by the Scottish Event Campus!

Here’s how to take part:

  • Download a pedometer app on your smartphone or alternatively use your own pedometer, fitbit, health app, apple watch etc.
  • Follow the official RCGP AC Twitter account @RCGPAC
  • Take a screenshot or photo of the total number of steps you have accumulated on Thursday 4 October and Tweet it to @RCGPAC by 16.00 
  • Tag  @SECglasgow including the hashtags #RCGPSteps18 & #healthyvenue

The person with the highest number of steps accumulated will win the sports voucher worth £50. Winner will be contacted via Twitter on Thursday 4 October by 17.30.

Fun Run / Walk

Come and join us for some early morning exercise, whatever your ability. Below you will find all the information you need to participate in the Fun Run / Walk, taking place on Friday 5 October 2018 at 07.00. The meeting point will be outside the front of the SEC Armadillo building, adjacent to the riverfront. 


• Each participant must agree to the disclaimer and terms and conditions before participating in the event. All participants take part at their own risk and a disclaimer waiving all claims against Haymarket Media Group, The Royal College of GPs and any party acting on its behalf must be completed by all entrants.

• By taking part, all participants confirm that they are happy for their names and any footage or photographs taken during their participation be used to publicise the annual conference and social activities

On the Day

• Participants must follow instructions as given from all event officials including event staff, volunteers, medical personnel, security officers and city officials throughout the duration of the event.

• All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner during their participation in the event.

• There are no bib numbers for this fun run

• You will not need to check in on the morning of the fun run

• Baby joggers, baby strollers and wheelchairs are permitted on the course. Participants must begin the event during the official recognised starting times

The Start

All participants should congregate outside the front of the SEC Armadillo building, adjacent to the riverfront on Friday 5 October, 2018 at 06.50.

Race Safety

• Participants are responsible for their recognition and understanding of event signage, symbols and colour relating to participant maps and direction

• A limited number of marshals will be situated on the course at key turn points

• The route is not a closed pathway and all participants must yield to the right of way of other walkers, runners and cyclists using the public pavement areas. Use the pavement (including any path along the side of the road) where there is one. Use safe crossings where possible and follow the Green Cross Code:


In order to participate in the Fun Run / Walk, attendees must agree to the following disclaimer:

“I confirm that all participants are 18 years or older. I accept that I do so entirely at my own risk and that it is my responsibility to ensure that I am fit and able to take part in the event. I accept that the organisers will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses which may arise in consequence of my participation of the event”.

Re-energise, revitalise and relax with our early morning yoga sessions. Begin your day with 30 minutes of yoga to get your energy flowing, stretch your body and relax the mind, setting a positive note to your day at the conference.

This will be a general level class, suitable for all. You will receive an introduction to the secrets of the discipline where breathing techniques and exercise help to bring your body into balance and prepare you to act with confidence and clarity throughout the day.

Please bring comfortable clothing and a towel. Yoga mats will be supplied but participants can bring their own if they wish.
